THE STORY BEHIND THE BRAND
Sulaiman Hameed is a former Division I football student-athlete who competed at Washington State University from 2014 to 2018 on a full-ride scholarship. He earned three Varsity Letters, was named to the PAC-12 True Freshman All-Academic Team, and was recognized three consecutive times on the WSU All-Academic Team. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management and is currently pursuing his MBA.
But the road wasn't always straight.
During his time at WSU, Sulaiman suffered an injury that forced him to make one of the hardest decisions of his life — medically retiring from the game he loved. Football had been his identity, his purpose, and his platform. Walking away from it wasn't just an athletic decision. It was personal.
That moment of loss became the foundation of everything he would build next.
Rather than walk away from the sport entirely, Sulaiman chose to give back to it. He poured his energy into mentoring athletes, helping them navigate the challenges of college sports, identity, and life after the game. He understood firsthand what it felt like to have your athletic career define you — and what it meant to have to rediscover yourself when it was over.
That experience is what led him to NIL education. Sulaiman saw a generation of athletes who had immense value but no roadmap for how to use it. He made it his mission to change that.
Today, Sulaiman is the founder of I AM THE BRAND — a NIL education and brand strategy platform built on a simple belief: every athlete deserves to understand their value before someone else profits from it. As a NIL educator, brand strategist, and Sport Management professional, he works directly with athletes to help them build their brands, attract real opportunities, and create platforms that outlast their playing careers.
He is based in Los Angeles, California. He is a proud fiancé, a new father, and a man who turned his hardest moment into his greatest purpose.
I AM THE BRAND. It's Business and Personal.
